All Boca Boca foodie experiences take place at La Masia Alt Penedes, a 17th century stone masia in the gorgeous wine country of the Penedes region, only 50 minutes by car or train from Barcelona city.

QUALITY, FRIENDLINESS AND THE LOCAL EXPERIENCE ARE AT THE CORE OF OUR PHILOSOPHY.

Whether you come for a day trip or getaway experience your will be privilege to stunning views, fabulous food & wine and peace and quite unlike any other. When you arrive at La Masia you are treated as one of the family and encouraged to make yourself at home.  More than just an indulgent food & wine experience, La Masia offers the chance to unwind and explore until your heart´s content.  Take some down time well spent enjoying the natural swimming pool or have a stroll around the extensive gardens and nearby mountain walks. 

Sustainable tourism is our core value and to that end, we offer our guests only organic food and wines at all in-house meals. All ingredients are sourced from local suppliers and local smallhold farmers invloved in the Okm movement of the Catalan region.

We treat all our clients as VIP´s. Transport from Barcelona city or Vila Franca train station are included in the price of all DAYTRIPS and GETAWAYS and we only offer foodie experiences to groups on an exclusive basis. Your hosts are also happy to help organise bike or car hire should you wish to explore the local area outside the scheduled events of your getaway.

 

 

WHAT

DAY TRIPS — Choose your fully inclusive escape to wine country: On offer are: Cooking experiences with wine tastings, 4 course traditional Catalan lunch with wine pairing, visit to local sights with rustic restaurant lunch. Included in the price are all activities, food and unlimited drinks as well as transfers to and from Barcelona city.

GETAWAYS We offer a range of two, three or four night foodie escapes. Each getaway package is a fully bespoke experience designed to suit each individual groups needs and desires. All in-house meals and drinks as well as a wide selection of culinary and wine experiences off site are included in the getaway price and all meals are prepared using fresh locally sourced organic ingredients. In the warmer months most fruit and veggies we pick straight from the kitchen garden and at particular times of the year we welcome guests to join us in foraging for ingredients that grow naturally in and around the property. Autumn brings with it a plethora of wild mushrooms and in spring wild asparagus can be plucked from the mountainside and walking tracks. Every new day brings with it a basket of sunny eggs courtesy of our lovely hens.

WHo

Your host and resident chef at La Masia is Australian born cookbook author, Sophie Ruggles.

Here is her story:

In 2003 I took a leap of faith and moved with my family from Australia home to Barcelona, Spain, where I accidently opened a restaurant. I say accidently because the original idea was to find work as a chef somewhere and polish my rather wanton language skills. But the opportunity to be the propietor of my very own place came along and I just couldn’t turn it down.

EMU BAR was Barcelona’s first and only Australian eatery and the four years I spent there where both incredibly intense and professionally gratifying. The idea was to put a bit of fire into the bellies of my Mediterranean counterparts and my quirky little eatery became quickly known as the only place in Barcelona to get a taste of real spice.

We have since closed EMU BAR’s door and left the wonderfully vibrant city in favour of a total tree change. In 2016 we moved to La Masia to do a complete renovation on what is now our new old home, where we offer our guests fully bespoke culinary & wine getaways.
